Healthier, younger looking skin

by Geoff Hopkins

As skin naturally begins to show the signs of age, both women and men start to become concerned and look for skin care products o reduce these tell tale signs. People want to know what the best options are in order to choose the best products. Most of them will want to start with a wrinkle reduction cream which resorts a healthy and vital look to the skin.

Products that reduce the signs of aging and prevent more wrinkles from forming are often the first (if not the only) line of defense that most people use to gain younger, healthy looking skin. Today's consumer of skin products is often looking for a cream that will have it all: mildness, botanical or organic ingredients, easy application, reasonable prices, and great results.

Some products are designed to be used overnight, allowing the cream to be absorbed and do its replenishing work while you sleep. Other creams are for use during the day, and include important ingredients like sunscreen, which protect the skin against ultraviolet radiation, both UV-A and UV-B. The sun's rays can increase the risk of skin cancer, so such a preventative step is beneficial to both health and beauty.

In order for a product to help prevent aging successfully, it must work to preserve the skin's moisture. Skin that is dry and irritated will show existing wrinkles more, and will be more susceptible to new wrinkles. While drinking lots of liquids will help to keep skin hydrated, it is also important to apply moisturizer after cleansing the face to keep the moisture locked in. Petroleum jelly is an easy and affordable way to do this, as well.

Plenty of nutritious antioxidants are also important in maintaining that youthful look, as they help the body repair and protect the skin. Antioxidants are founding foods rich in Vitamins A, D, and E. Tomatoes contain Lycopenes which are powerful antioxidants. Keep an eye out for products that contain these nutrients.

When skin ages, the layers of proteins shrink causing it to loose its elasticity and structure. Extracts of collagen and Aloe Vera help to maintain firmness by adding prtein to those layers. Aloe Vera is uniquely adapted to this, as it has long, sliding proteins that go right through the skin to the source of the problem. Many people are now turning to products that include botanical or natural ingredients. Creams that include Tea extracts, both white and green, have antioxidants that help to heal skin.

There also manufactured ingredients that are helpful in preserving the health and beauty of your skin. Alpha Hydroxys help to exfoliate, leaving your skin smooth and glowing. Mild peels work in this fashion as well. Even if you prefer to use natural ingredients over ones such as these, always remember that not every natural product is safe, and some are harsh. Sometimes manufactured ingredients can be more gentle and more effective.

Which ever anti-aging product you choose in the end, make sure you research the ingredients, read reviews from sources your trust, and consult friends who have the kind of skin you'd like to see on yourself! Don't be afraid to try out suggestions the may sound strange: for instance, some creams made to shrink hemorrhoids can remove fine lines and wrinkles and reduce eye puffiness for hours!
