The Day Off Lose Weight Diet

By Joe Pahl

The problem with many diets is that they are just too hard for most people to stick to. Sure, they may do good for a few days, maybe even a week or two. But eventually they go back to their old eating habits and gain back all of the weight they lost plus more. The "Day Off Lose Weight Diet" is a diet that most people can discipline themselves to follow over a long period of time. Each week you are fully rewarded for your efforts, and because of this you are much more likely to stay on the diet.

The Day Off Lose Weight Diet:

The basis of this diet is to follow a restricted eating plan for six days straight and then reward yourself by having one day where you can eat whatever you like.

Diet for the 6 days:

Morning Meals:

- one serving of fresh fruit
- one serving of whole grains (ie. oatmeal)
- one cup of low sugar yogurt
- one cup of green tea

Afternoon Meals:

- one small salad (lettuce, tomato, onions, etc) with low-fat dressing
- one serving of a healthy protein (ie. tuna, turkey, etc) with a complex carbohydrate like steamed vegetables, brown rice, whole grain bread
- one serving of fresh fruit
- one cup of green tea

Dinner Meals:

- one small salad
- one serving of a healthy protein (with complex carb)
- one serving of fresh fruit
- one cup of green tea

Acceptable Snacks:

- vegetables and low-fat dip
- low-fat cottage cheese
- a handful of nuts

On your "off day", you can eat whatever you like without any guilty. It's your reward for being able to stick your lose weight diet plan for six days. So if you have a special craving for a Big Mac of greasy pizza, just be sure to make good choices for six days, and then be able to enjoy that meal on day seven without any reserves. Most people fail to stick to diets plans because they feel that they have to swear off certain foods forever in order to be successful. With the "Day Off Lose Weight Diet Plan", you don't need to do this. All you have to do is swear it off for six days. Then you will have one day to eat whatever foods that you like. Forever is very hard for most people. Six days is a piece of cake.

Fad diets rarely work. Their restrictive nature makes it too difficult for the average person to follow it long enough to reap the benefits from it. And once someone makes a "mistake" with the diet by eating something that they shouldn't, they immediately think that they have failed and give up trying to stick to the diet. The "Day Off Lose Weight Diet Plan" limits its strictness to less than a week. This is well within the comfort level for most people looking to lose a few pounds. And even if you happen to make a bad decision, you can get right back on track for the next six days.
